The Great Wall

 

 

‘When a mercenary Photographer (Michele Monticello) is placed within the Great Wall, he discovers the mystery behind one of the greatest wonders of the world.

As wave after wave of marauding tourists besiege the massive structure, his quest for Selfies turns into a journey towards self discovery as he joins a huge army of elite dreamers to confront the unimaginable and seemingly unstoppable force of  the power of soul searching.

The threadbare story turns on a swaggering mercenary, Michele Monticello, who’s trying to find what he calls “The Way,” Aka Self Discovery. He and his sidekick, Leica M9, end up at the Great Wall, where after some macho posturing and chest thumping, he joins forces with the wall’s Tourists, in taking a few selfies.”

 

Seriously I know that there is a lot of publicity about The Great Wall, the recently released Matt Damon movie which I can’t wait to see, the effects look amazing.

I recently visited the The Great Wall of China and decided to go to the Jinshanling  section as it was the furthest section from Beijing and hopefully the least touristy part.

 

The first approach is quite ordinary and the first thing that came to my mind was is this it, then as you cross the first Peak and main gate you suddenly become mesmerised by the scale and grandeur of this structure. it is an absolutely breath taking experience.

Visibility was quite poor and very hazy but it really did not steal anything from my experience and this was certainly probably one of the most amazing places I have visited, incredibly magical and I would also say a moving and spiritual experience.

I wanted to take a selection of pictures in both digital format and also with 35mm film, I was also hoping to do some bracketing but in the end just used hand held camera and majority were shot with a digital camera.  Dear National Geographic if you need any pictures of  The Great Wall of China  I would be very happy to go and take some for you. Im being serious it would be my dream.
