Pandora’s Box
I not so recently visited the Jewellery shop, Pandora to buy my goddaughter a small gift. This got me thinking about the name Pandora which means gift.
In Italian and in Greek mythology Pandora was the first woman. She was given a jar by Zeus packed with evils and misery and told never to open it. But curiosity got the better of her and she unleashed horrible things into the world. She closed the lid and hope was the only thing left in the jar.
The Beatles wrote All you need is love, but what everyone also needs is hope. However small that hope is, even the tiniest amount will give you strength. I am a hoper (if that word exits) and I hope with everything I do. If I’m taking a photo, I will look at my subject point my camera, having checked all my settings I have a little voice inside me saying ‘I hope I get a good picture’.
I read the below: “Hope is what keeps us going in life. We hope we will be strong; we hope we will pass a test; we hope we will make new friends; we hope we will never lose the old; we hope someone loves us; we hope that love will find us; we hope when all seems lost; we hope when we are hurt; we hope when we play games and we hope when we cry. Never lose your hope, never give up when someone gives up on you. They may still hope as you do.” (Unknown)
I really don’t know what got me on to the subject of hope, maybe just a passing thought about the word and I realized I certainly do hope a lot. Hoping is good and it’s certainly given me strength. As I write this I still have lots of hope in my heart.
Google explains: “Hope is an optimistic attitude of mind that is based on an expectation of positive outcomes related to events and circumstances in one’s life or the world at large. As a verb, its definitions include: “expect with confidence” and “to cherish a desire with anticipation”.
Hope is what can make dreams come true or : The moral of the story is don’t open Pandora’s box but if you do don’t worry because there is always Hope ! 🙂
